I started with the face. The waxing of my upper lip (you know you have hair there too. Unless you're Emily. That bitch) was getting old and annoying. Especially when my esthitician(sp?) thought plucking was a much more precise way of getting them all. AAAAH the agony. I also had some errant chin hairs (you know you have those too) that definitely needed the boot.Okay, let me start out by saying I did not take before pictures. Yes, I probably should have, but there are some things I don't feel like sharing with the blogosphere - close up pics of my 'stache being one of them. Sorry.
So, yes, it stung. But it differed by region. The chin just felt warm and didn't hurt at all, just a weird warm sensation, like my chin was getting close to a lightbulb or something. The upper lip, however, WOWEE, ouch. Definitely didn't hurt as much as waxing, but definitely not the most pleasant experience.
According to the laser peeps, people need about 6-8 sessions with a couple touchups. Not sure what a touchup is. And clearly I got suckered into buying the 8 session package. I can't help it, you can talk me into any spa treatment. I'm an addict, remember? For the 8 session face package with 2 touch ups, it was a total of $1,500. OUCH. Yes, laser hair removal is expensive. But it's supposed to be forever so I call it worth it.
After two sessions I can't really tell you if they're gone for good, but the hairs are definitely growing back much much slower. With this development, clearly it meant I should add another region to the laser hair removal mix. Thought for .2 seconds about the next most annoying hair area and decided I definitely needed to get my underarms done. The laser technician told me upper lip is by far the most painful and the underarm isn't close to being like upper lip. So with that bit of knowledge, I signed myself up for an underarm laser treatment next week.
I will keep you updated on the saga. I am here to be your beauty treatment guinea pig.
