Reader Question - Legwear for October Wedding?

I am going to a wedding on October 3 in Chicago and I don't know what I can/should do as far as pantyhose (does anyone still call it that? I'm old). I'm wearing a very cute black matte satin dress (eliza j, with a ruffle) and most likely black shoes. Normally, I'd wear extremely sheer nude (donna karan nude, not L'eggs nude) hose but it seems that I've been seeing sheer black hose on people again. I really don't want to go bare-legged. What do you think? Thanks, and I love your blog!

Well, after reading the question, a few things come to mind:

1) Mmm... ruffle dress. I heart ruffles. I bet the dress is killer.

2) I hate black hose. Nothing cute about it. I would, instead, suggest cute black tights instead. But that said, I actually think black tights are far too heavy a look for an October 3rd wedding in Chicago. While weather.com's prediction of mid-70s is rather optimistic, it probably will be in the mid-60s, which isn't exactly tights weather. I would go bare legged. It's perfectly appropriate (just don't forget to shave your legs!) But if you really can't do bare legged, nude hose would be fine. And if you really want to go the black legs route, here are some cute tights options (no black hose please!):

3) If you do go the black legwear route, the proposed ensemble of black dress, black tights, and black shoes is far too funerial or witch-like for a wedding.

This is a wedding! It's a celebration! Pump things up with a pop of color in your shoes. Try something like any of the shoes below to add some fun to your wedding outfit:
Tahari, $98

Kenneth Cole, was $105, sale $59.99
