Converting People One Shopping Trip At A Time (and Weekend Purchases)

I love shopping. I really truly do. It gives me pleasure like few other things do. Foie gras and chicken wings (not together of course) come close, but there's only so much of that you can eat, whereas shopping can last hours and hours and days and days. I assume everyone shares this love. And then I meet people who don't and I get so so confused. My friend Em is one of these people. Em is always game to come along for a shopping outing, which I love her for, but I'm pretty sure it makes her break into hives. It's not really her thing.

That is until Monday. With the day off, we thought we'd take our friend Laura out to go dress shopping for her bachelorette. Laura, however, decided to ditch us, but the day was absolutely gorgeous and just perfect for wandering the shops, so Em and I went anyway. I figured it'd be a typical outing with me buying everything in sight and Em counting the minutes til it was all over. But, golly, did we ever have a switcheroo. While I only found a few choice items, Em spent, I kid you not, THREE TIMES as much as I did. I couldn't believe it. She was coming into the dressing room with loads and loads of clothing, and those clothes made their way to the register with her.

I've never been prouder :) It's about time the shopping bug rubbed off on her.

As for me and my few items from the weekend, here's a recap:

1. A super darling headband from BR. It's v. 20s and I just love it. I might wear it every day for the next month. Don't judge. And apparently it's just so cute that BR is keeping it a secret and I can't find it on their website, so no linky for you.

2. A super adorable top from Ann Taylor Loft. Yes, I said Ann Taylor Loft. I couldn't believe it. I haven't step foot in there in a veeeery long time. I am not really a fan. Call me a snob, it's okay. But it was a gorgeous day so I was distracted from what I was going into. And then I was pleasantly surprised. While the color scheme was pretty color-free, there were cute ruffles everywhere. You know what a sucker I am for ruffles. So clearly I had to get a super adorable black ruffled tee. The $49.50 price tag was more than I would ever consider paying for an ATLoft top, but it seemed relatively inconsequential to what Em was throwing down, so I thought I should grab it up. This top is apparently so so cute that ATLoft has decided to not put it online, either that or it's sold out. Go figure.

3. I got a SWEATSHIRT! A SWEATSHIRT, y'all! No one is more shocked than I am. I don't wear things like that in public (except on very early or long flights. It's my weakness), and this one is also not going into the light of day, but I just had to have it. Look at that delish cowl neck. Chicest sweatshirt ever. I just want to snuggle into it right now.

4. I can't believe I bought this. I HATE Elisabeth Hasslebeck. It's not because her politics are just so very different than my own, I'm a big enough person to deal with that. It's the fact that she's so utterly ignorant about the things she talks about. And she can't even spell her name right. Ugh. I really hate her.

So imagine my horrible awful self-loathing for buying this:
(I'm not even giving a link. I'm not helping her out anymore than I already have)
So I'm gluten-free these days. And, man, is it tough. I heard lots of places this was a pretty good guide book for figuring out the gluten-free basics, as well as how to share a kitchen with non-gluten-free individuals. So I finally gave in and bought it. And I feel SO bad about it. It feels like I donated to some anti-gay, anti-Muslim, anti-liberty, terrorist organization. It's like I bought cookies from the KKK because I heard they tasted really good. Please don't judge me. I'm judging myself enough.
