This post is a few months late as it was a new years decision, but 2009 has been pretty busy so far. But better late than never. Time for an EWP announcement: I will no longer be doing birthday gifts.
Now, you all know I love birthdays. More than most people would find normal. And I would hate to seem like the Grinch that stole Birthday. But over the last couple of years, living in a different city, I've discovered a few things: 1) It is really hard to coordinate gifts with people across the country, 2) as we grow older, little things our friends buy us are not as exciting, 3) I just have no time to plan for all the birthdays and get things out in time, and 4) most people I know have already made this decision. So, in the interest of full disclosure and sparing hurt feelings, I am letting my readership know in advance that I'm going cold turkey on the bday gift sending. If I actually see you on or around your birthday, or attend a birthday party for you, that's another story. Otherwise, there will be no gifts from EWP under your birthday tree this year and, likewise, please do not get anything for me when my birthday comes around.
As I start my spring cleaning and unclutter my life, this is one more step to simplifying that just makes sense. This and hiring a cleaning lady (best decision ever).
