There are few shoes that I have come across that I felt the need to replace after I'd worn them to their end. Usually my shoes don't even get worn out. Basically, I'm not very loyal to my shoes and get over them very quickly. And I would hate to have replacement shoes as I believe the shoes will probably be out of style by the time I manage to wear through them a second time.
These shoes are one of the very few exceptions. I am head over heels in love with them. Now, you know I'm a shoe snob, and the thought of ever letting something by Aerosoles touch my feet was rather appalling, but after a few weeks walking around Chicago in flip flops, I realized my feetsies needed much more support than a flip flop could provide. Not to mention that I find that flip flops look immature and young, and make you look unkempt (and don't you even THINK about wearing them to work). It was definitely time for an EWP-worthy upgrade.
The lovely K was experiencing the same walking summer pains as me and suggested these shoes. I was too far in painful arch land to even scoff at the idea of Aerosoles, my immediate response was: Yes, I need to get them now! And I have never been happier about a shoe decision. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever put on, and I cannot even tell you how many compliments I get on a regular basis when I wear them. They are quite the hit. Though it does lead to the embarassing question of, "where'd you get those?" to which I must truthfully respond, "Aerosoles." Then the boutique worker kind of gives me a look but gets over it as they are the cutest shoes ever.
I started with the one pair, and after two summers of constant wear, they finally kicked the bucket. It was a sad sad day in the world of EWP. Even my husband mourned their loss, and I don't think he ever notices my shoes (unless their soles are red). But once I was in the market to replace them, they were gone. No website or store had them in stock. It seems other people had found out their wondrous powers. I have diligently been stalking all my shoe sites for the day they might return, which was a long shot as they are from 2 years ago and most shoe companies don't remake the same exact shoe. I was willing to take any variation.
Turns out, I don't have to. Aerosoles, bless their unchanging nerdy hearts, has reissued my beloved Soul Mate (yes, that is the name of the shoe. Very appropriate, as they are the soul mates to my soles). If there is ever any purchase you make based on this blog, this would be it. Your feet will thank you. I suggest getting a pair in every color.
