Alexander McQueen - Memorable Looks

I didn't think the few items I picked at random yesterday really did Alexander McQueen justice. Yes, they were his, but he's done so much more. So I thought I'd assemble some memorable looks sported by various celebrities through the years. Not always my taste, his looks have always been unforgettable.

1. McQueen with Sarah Jessica Parker at a New York gala event, May 2006
To celebrate a special ''AngloMania'' exhibit at the Met, the late designer accompanied SJP on the red carpet in coordinating plaid looks.

2. Sandra Bullock at the SAG Awards, Jan. 2010
McQueen's designs have been a staple in the current red carpet season with devotees like Sandra Bullock, Anna Paquin, and Cameron Diaz regularly wearing his dresses, like this black and blue number which was my favorite at the SAG awards this year.

3. Sarah Jessica Parker at the London premiere of the Sex and the City movie, May 2008
Sarah Jessica Parker frequently chose McQueen designs for her big red carpet outings, like this adorable, pleated green dress.

4. Drew Barrymore at the Toronto Film Festival, Sept. 2009
Fashion chameleon Barrymore went for glamorous and punk-rock at the same time in this tattooed dress from a recent McQueen line.

5. Cyndi Lauper at an AmFar benefit, Feb. 2010
Just one day before news of McQueen's death stunned the fashion world, Lauper walked the red carpet in the designer's signature geometric print.

6. Cate Blanchett at the Benjamin Button L.A. premiere, Dec. 2008
Cate Blanchett, known for bringing avant-garde fashion to the red carpet, often wore McQueen looks, like this totally darling gold frock.

7. Beyoncé performing at the World Music Awards, Nov. 2008 in an Alexander McQueen vest.

8. Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards, Sept. 1998
Always up for something interesting, Madonna went for a sequined McQueen ensemble at the VMAs

9. Lady Gaga's ''Bad Romance'' video, Nov. 2009
Lady Gaga was one of the first to wear McQueen's bizarreo boomerang heels in her video for ''Bad Romance,'' which featured many looks by the designer. The adventurous singer and the visionary designer were a perfect match.

10. Katie Holmes at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon, Feb. 2008
McQueen added some edge to Holmes' sheath dress with sharp of-the-moment shoulders and a graphic houndstooth print.

11. Gwyneth Paltrow at the Oscars, March 2002
While I absolutely hated this dress, you can't deny that this McQueen gown was memorable.

12. Brittany Snow at the Alexander McQueen Target line launch party, Feb. 2009
McQueen designed a line for Target in 2009, which Snow wore to the launch party.

What was your favorite McQueen look?
