Even though the big colors of the night were purple, beige and blush, my very favoritest two looks were both black gowns.
Lea Michele took her first nomination seriously and came out in this high-volume, high-glamour Oscar de la Renta gown. Love love love it! A+

Not only was Penelope Cruz's Armani Prive dress classic and delightful, but she was pretty delightful too as she said on the red carpet "I'm not Puff Daddy, I can hold my own umbrella." Even her umbrella looks classy and chic. A+

It's no surprise this ruffled (tassled???) maroon disaster was my least favorite dress of the evening -it's by Louis Vuitton. I don't think they make anything classily. It's a shame too because Zoe Saldana is gorgeous. Look at her skin *sigh*. But very unfortunate dress choice. D

Vera Farmiga rocked a rather unique Dolce & Gabbana gown with rose detail. I like a little detailing that makes you look twice, but this dress really isn't doing it for me. Points for a gorgeous smokey eye. C+
Toni Collette took the Golden in Golden Globes quite literally in this gorgeous, form hugging, glamorama Elie Saab gown. No wonder she walked away with an award. A

Well, Tina Fey at least tries to keep it interesting with this Zac Posen dress. I don't take offense to the odd length like other people did. And I especially like the Christian Louboutin bow heels. But the cut and print really just lose me. C+

Sandra Bullock was a total mess in this purple strapless Bottega Veneta gown. See-through is a no no for anyone not trying to look like a hussy, and that fabric looked super duper cheap. F

The color of this Nina Ricci dress on Nicole Kidman looks divine, but all the bow detailing is just too much for me. B-
Mo'Nique really shown in this golden Reem Acra dress. I don't normally like strapless on a larger woman, but she really did it well. The dress was simple, letting the draping shine, and her hair was demure and pulled back. Love the look. Minus points for not bothering to shave and showing her hairy legs on the red carpet. B

Marion Cotillard is one of the most gorgeous actresses in Hollywood. I usually think she can do no wrong, but this Christian Dior structured teal number is just not for me. It's too harsh, and the random lacey slip is just too bizarre for me. And the hair is a definite no. Double minus points for looking like awkward actress Kristen Stewart. D

Wow. Mariah Carey's boobs wore a Herve Leger dress. I love showing off your assets, but this is just a little too much for me. And the bandage dress just makes her look hippy and paunchy. Nice pony tail though. C-

I love Rolan Mouret. His dresses have great structure, and I'm very excited Maggie Gyllenhaal is not wearing all over animal print this year, but this dress has just a little too much applique in the front. B

No. This color is just no. F [Lauren Graham in Monique Llullier in case you were wondering]

I generally am a strong proponent of gowns at awards shows, but every once in a while a shorter dress shows up to change my mind. This is definitely one of those dresses. Just love Kristen Bell in this young and fresh dress by Jasmine Di Milo, especially paired with those sparkly Louboutins. A

Oh Kate. I normally love some fabu structuring and this Marchesa dress was all set for an A+ rating, except for those horrendous shoes. My eyes! Oh my eyes! D

Now this is a short dress I most definitely cannot get on board with. Julia Roberts bombed on the red carpet with this vintage Yves Saint Laurent and Van Cleef necklace. F

Oh, Julianne. Why would you do this to me? You're gorgeous. Look at that skin! Look at that hair! Why oh why? [Julianne Moore in Balenciaga]. D

Jennifer Garner exuded elegance in a delicately beaded Atelier Versace gown. I just really hate the hair. Ick. B+

When on earth was the last time we ever saw Jennifer Aniston at one of these awards shows without a black dress? anyone? anyone? that's right, never. SOOOO bored of her black dresses. Points for this Valentino's sexy cut that kept it a little interesting. C

Oh Jenna Fischer. I thought Pam looked dowdy because that's what the show made her do, but apparently Jenna just prefers dowdy, as she exhibited in this sack-like Halston. C-

A lot of people have put January Jones and this Lanvin on the worst dressed lists. I respectfully disagree. I love the drama of the shoulder. And while other people have taken issue with the headband, I actually think a well placed headband can be totally new and fun for a formal event. Kudos to January for the simple silk headband that I think perfectly complimented her Lanvin. A-

The gorgeous Heidi Klum totally let me down in this sky blue Roberto Cavalli. The ruffling at the bottom is just not for me. D-

Halle Berry rivaled Mariah Carey in over exposure in this Kaufman Franco dress. All the slashing detail was a little too punk for my taste and was my second least favorite look of the night. F

Fergie's strapless Elie Saab gown wasn't terrible, in fact, I thought the light perwinkle color was kind of nice, but her hair and makeup needed a lot of work. I understand it was pouring, and so I've been fairly lenient when it comes to unruly hair, but Fergie just looked like she didn't try. C

I'm pretty sure I've seen a dress almost exactly like this Dolce & Gabbana worn by Emily Blunt, but I like it anyway. A-

Drew Barrymore's Atelier Versace got quite a bit of criticism. I don't entirely hate the sea urchins, I just wish it had stuck to just her shoulder. The extra urchin for her hip was too much and not the least bit flattering. B-

I love myself some Glee so I was super excited for this newbie show's first Golden Globe nom (and win!!) It was nice to see the adorable Dianna Agron without her fake baby belly, and instead all grown up and gorgeous in this understated yet elegant Reem Acra gown. A

Diane Kruger is always one of my faves on the red carpet. She generally has impeccable style. So imagine my distress when I saw this pepto bismol pink Christian Lacroix dress. Once my eyes adjusted to the glare, I got a good look at it and realized the dress itself was absolutely beautiful. It was just the color choice that was so offensive. In any other color it'd be an A+, in this pink we downgrade to B.

Christina Hendricks rocked my world in my fave Project Runaway alum Christian Siriano. Daring choice to rock a gown by a reality tv star, but it paid off. Her vavavoom curves were gorgeously snuggled by this champagne gown. A

Chloe Sevigny gets points for wearing something that didn't make my eyes bleed, but this Roger Vivier has one (or ten) too many ruffles. It is pretty the more I look at it. Too bad Chace Crawford ripped it on stage later. B-

Cameron Diaz wore a completely unremarkable red satin Alexandar McQueen dress, which she paired with completely unremarkable black Ferragamo pumps. A red dress and black pumps? How sadly unoriginal. D

Anna Paquin's way too shimmery golden dress by Stella McCartney was not the worst part of her ensemble. I was going to actually get on board with the over the top shimmer, but her shoes made me cry sad sad shoe tears. Black gladitor-like heels are absolutely the wrongest choice for this dress. I don't think she could have picked anything worse, unless maybe she wore sneakers. C
