Well, I did it. I conquered my sort of fear of needles and my definite fear of pain, and went to get acupuncture.
My acupuncturist was this very chic and elegant woman from Poland. She definitely knew what she was talking about and put me at ease. I also respect that she refused to sugar coat the procedure and said, "I'm not going to lie and say you feel nothing at all, let's be frank, I'm putting needles in you, it's going to pinch."
And she was right, it did pinch. All those people who say it doesn't hurt at all are big fat liars. You're getting needles stuck in you, and it feels like it. It's a quick pinch, which is not comfortable, and then it's just a weird pressure because they're still in you. And then you forget they're there and listen to the nice music being played, smell the lavendar scented pillow, and enjoy the dark room. I almost fell asleep.
Now I knew one session wasn't going to cure all that ails me, so I'm willing to give it a few more shots before I decide if it's right for me.
So that's the acupuncture update.
