After my
post on needing a gown for a Spanish wedding this month, I've gotten lots of questions about what I ended up going with. I ordered a couple of
dresses from that prior post, but they weren't really speaking to me. So I hit the mean streets of Chicago (read: Michigan Ave.) with my very supportive friend Kim in tow and two of us tackled the dress departments of Bloomingdales, BCBG, Neiman's, Saks, and Nordstrom. After overheating in hot dressing rooms and stopping for hydration (this was a tough shopping trip), we finally found the dress at Saks. And by we, I mean Kim found it. I totally passed it by and Kim stopped me and said, "Wait, what about this?" And I'm so glad she did because it was the dress that would win the day.
The exact Tadashi dress is not online and I keep forgetting to take a picture of it, but it's a variation of the dress below. Variation 1) it has a little jewely thing where the twist is, variation 2) it's more of a royal blue than teal, variation 3) it's not a light chiffon though I wish it was. Things I love about it: 1) I can wear a normal bra with it (this is always a HUGE bonus for chesty ladies), 2) I will not feel like a hussy when I stand and do a reading in the church (many dresses had VERY low necklines), 3) it will pack SO WELL. Now I just need to take it to a tailor. It's about 3 inches too long, even with 4 inch heels on.
Thanks to Kim for all her help!
