Oscars 2009: Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto in John Galliano.
Oh Freida. Freida Freida Freida *shaking head sadly* You knew Slumdog was going to win everything on the planet. You knew all eyes would be on you. You could have maybe thought that while not nominated, they'd give you the Oscar for Best Actress because that silly Kate Winslet wasn't even in Slumdog, how could she win? And if that were to happen, you clearly had to be at the ready to run on stage and accept the Oscar in your dazzling best and broken English (okay, she may speak English perfectly well, but I can make up whatever I want).

Instead she chose that. She just looks so... old. And boring. But mostly old. The color is refreshing, I do like the blue. I like the sparkly detailing. It's just that sleeve! Maybe she was going for a sari look, but I have never seen a one-sleeved sari in my life. She could have easily done away with the sleeve and just had a strap in its place matching the strap across her right shoulder. That would have made a huge difference.

I'm so sad. How is she supposed to take Hollywood by storm looking like somebody's Nana? At least Woody Allen has put her in his next film. Maybe it'll be a comedy about an Indian girl marrying a white boy and hilarious cultural differences ensue. And she, in that dress, would play the mother of the bride.
