My social calendar is all booked up with holiday parties and I'm sure yours are too. And I'm sure you've been fretting about what to wear. Well look no further for a holiday dressing guide from your fave chicagoshopper.
1. Office Parties: If your life is completely unfair like mine, you have a daytime office holiday party taking place in your office. Such a shindig calls for a more casual outfit. While others have offices that actually care about having a good time and have a more formal affair. Just remember in either situation, it's a work event - strapless/assymetrical necklines, short hemlines, and low backs are completely inappropriate. Try to stick to my rule: if you can't wear a normal strapped bra underneath it, you probably shouldn't wear it to a work event. If it's someone else's work event, however, that's another story. I would have no problem rocking a strapless number to my husband's office party. I don't have to look professional to his work colleagues, I can be his hot trophy wife arm candy. But not in a trashy way of course, I'd just be all glamor.
2. Friend's Parties: Sometimes cocktail attire, sometimes more of a jeans and top situation, this you have to feel out for yourself. Just keep in mind, it is the winter, too much skin would be out of place and unseasonal.
3. Hues: People traditionally lean to red and black for the holiday season. Why not try and broaden your dress horizons with a deep bold jewel tone in green or purple? Still completely seasonally appropriate, but adds so much more impact. And top it off with accessories in gold for just the right amount of glimmer and glitz.
Below are some holiday party dress options I've assembled to help you out. They range from casual to a little more glam, to suit all your party needs. And, as always, are assembled at a variety of price points.
