Calling All Winter Boots

I really need winter boots. Like really really need them. When the upcoming winter snows turn to puddles of slush and the streets are strewn with salt, I need something to keep me warm, dry, and that I won't mind getting salt stains.

For something that I desperately need, it confounds me to no end that I have not been able to find any. Last year I bought a passable pair from Target out of necessity. They did the trick, but only being $19.99, it was amazing they lasted through an entire season, and clearly cannot be used this year. By the end of winter 07-08 they were all but destroyed and sent down the trash chute. Which brought me back to the same predicament I was in a year ago. Where can I get winter boots????

I got this pair from Kohl's, thinking they couldn't be so bad. But when they arrived, they were just HIDEOUS and my feet broke into tears at the thought of having to put them on. They were promptly returned.

After a month of constant online perusal, I have now ordered the pair below. They boast warmth and waterproofness. They arrive today, we'll see what happens.

The darling K has similar issues to my own, and purchased the rain boots below. Heavy duty so no slush will get inside. And to combat the cold, she's purchased wool socks to pair them with.
