But I did hear from a few makeup artists about how just a concealer on a dark circle isn't enough and will just look grey (yup, it does). So to warm up the area first, they recommend using a red lipstick and then putting concealer over it. This sounded rather bizarre and I didn't ever try it. I was too worried I might wipe my eye and have a big streak of red show through. But a few days ago, frustrated by the circles that won't quit, I thought, why not.
So I put on a red lipstick (under my eyes, not on my lips)
Then covered with a concealer
Yves Saint Laurent Concealer, $33
And set with my very favorite powder
And voila!.... I don't actually see a difference. My shade of red isn't a very good one, though, maybe that's it. I think I need to go shopping. And maybe I should do an eye comparison and just do concealer on one eye and lipstick+concealer on the other eye and have a panel judge the difference.... I might actually do that this weekend.
Moral of the story - have fun with makeup and try new things. You won't know if it works unless you try it.
