Some things I need just are not easy to come by. Shopping for these items turns into a search for the Holy Grail. I spend hours, days, weeks, and, in some instances, years trying to find the perfect this or that. I know what I want, it just seems no one makes it (or at least no one makes it within my budget). A good work bag is one such article that I have spent much of my life wandering the ends of the earth for. And as we saw here, I have come close to catching this mythical creature. Just not close enough for an actual purchase.
For all of you wondering what is a good work bag, think: professional, polished, clean lines, minimal extras.
Items that are absolutely inappropriate for work are anything cotton and cheap looking (messenger bags are especially unfeminine looking and not recommended),

anything that looks like it's from the juniors department,

and any type of shopping bag (I don't care if it's only for transporting shoes, you cannot carry shopping bags to work unless it contains actual shopping items you are returning over lunch).

For now I'm tiding myself over with a cute grey bag I picked up at Banana Republic a few weeks ago. (Sorry, it's not available online, so no link for you. But, take my word for it, it's v. cute). It'll do for now as I continue my quest like a lost knight searching through the desert.
While I have not found an attainable work bag of my dreams, I hope you might find yours from the options I've pulled together below in a variety of shapes and colors great for fall. Happy questing.
