Fall is in the Air

Somehow the days have flown by and we're already nearing the end of September. It's time to officially say goodbye to summer. And with the close of the season, there are many clothes for the season that must make their way back into storage for next year. So let's say goodbye to the following for now and break out the seasonally appropriate clothing for fall.

Linen
A fabric that is only for summer, time to store anything linen.

Summer totes/bags
You may love that Tory Burch bag you got this summer, but it's time is up for now.

White

Time to store all those white pants, dresses, and (in most cases) shoes. Some white shirts are still appropriate for the rest of the year, dependent on style and fabric (Think white dress shirts).

Espadrilles

Wedges, sandals, anything with a raffia/woven heel is no longer appropriate.

Eyelet
Yes, it's very cute, but if your clothes have eyelet, regardless of its cuteness, it's time for it to hybernate for winter.

Flip Flops

I discourage the wearing of flip flops as a shoe to commute to and from work in (it's just not mature and professional enough for the workplace, even if it's just worn in the elevator. But I'll have to wait 'til next year to discuss summer sandal alternatives). Now that it's fall, however, I flat out forbid their usage. Try out a sweet and comfy ballet flat instead. Nail Polish in Summer Shades

Time to trade in the pastelly pinks and summer brights for deeper fall tones.

And, lastly, why not take this opportunity to engage in my favorite seasonal activity: cleaning out your closet. I have a firm rule that if it hasn't been worn in the last year, it's got to go. Because, honestly, if you didn't wear it this summer, are you really going to wear it next summer?
